I'm not into the matter, probably someone like Yoko-chan, can advise you better. What I can say is, recently, I fancied with a band called GRANRODEO...I'm not sure what type it should be classified (hardrock? I don't really know).

Weeeeeeee! A subject that i loooove! Very Happy I already listed some j-pop and j-rock bands and singers in another topic, so i'll just copy/paste it here, so here we go:

    KAT-TUN - Love yourself
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6FmOtKzCMag&feature=PlayList&p=7027F7442DFDBC4F&playnext_from=PL&playnext=1&index=10

Other KAT-TUN songs i recommend and you find them on youtube: Lips, Fight all night, Keep the faith, Harukana Yakusoku, Hell no, Real face, Bokura no machi de, Going, You, Don't you ever stop, No more pain, Yorokobi no uta ...

    Arashi - Trublemaker
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=92WYNfCKSAc

    NewS - Summer time
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RapQ1lmC914

    Kanjani8 - Naniwa iroha bushi
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q8IAl3dwNjE

Other Kanjani8 songs i recommend: Wahaha, Zukkoke otokomichi

Gackt - Redemption (all time favorite song; perfect lyrics, perfect voice, perfect video... everything's perfect!)
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1gEyiu3Mymg

Other Gackt songs i recommend: Vanilla, Maria, Solitary, Mizerable, Jesus, Ghost, Returner, Lust for blood, Wasurenaikara, Sayonara (i swear i cryed when i first heared it), Uncertain memory...

L'Arc en Ciel - Stay away
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=plfrjkfMZcY

Miyavi - Selfish love (another perfect song; the samurai guitarist rullezzzz!!)
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E4Vq1svWg6E&feature=related

Other Miyavi songs i recommend: Kimi ni negai wo, Itoshii hito, Senor senora senorita, Jibun kakumei, Hi no hikari sae todokanai kono basho de, Ashita genki ni naare, What a wonderful world (no, it's not a cover or anything), Ku ku ru...

The Gazette - Reila (really sad song; word on the street is that Reila was one of the band's member's girlfriend and she died)
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0BQagMJl9C8&playnext_from=TL&videos=_TfNbTeAjQI

Other The Gazette cool songs: Mayakashi, Cassis

Quaff - they have an official youtube account but they only upload parts of their concerts so the audio is not so great. They do however have an official Myspace account and you can listen to a lot of their songs over there. I strongly suggest you listen to Metropolis Saihara (best song), Boots and Joker, Kurabe.
    Their Myspace:

    Hope it helped! Very Happy

Oh, forgot! Up till Gackt, they're j-pop artists and then, including Gackt, it's j-rock. Very Happy

I love j-pop and j-rock! Every morning, going to work i listen to this music and it gets me all pumped up and ready for a new day. The bad thing is that sometimes i unintentionally start mumbling along and people start staring at me. Smile))

(lol) Yeah, for me it's mainly because I like a lot how they play the guitar (by this I mean the emphasis they give). It's not very linear to explain but it's like they hit the right keys when constructing the melody. Excuse my lack of music knowledge.

Oooooooh when you talk about Japanese singers and guitars, this name must always pop in your mind: Miyavi!!!!! He is the samurai guitarist. He even calls himself like that. Check out his myspace - http://www.myspace.com/miyavi . Here is written clearly: "MIYAVI is a Japanese artist who is recognized to be one of Japan's top guitarists."
I must say, my top 3 favorite Japanese artists are Miyavi, Gackt and Hyde (from L'Arc-en-Ciel). On many forums you'll find these questions:
    - who do you prefer between Gackt and Hyde? My answer: Miyavi.
    - who do you prefer between Miyavi and Gackt? My answer: Hyde.
    - who do you prefer between Hyde and Miyavi? My answer: Gackt.

There is absolutelly no way i could choose one between these three. They are so different and yet so alike. I love Gackt's voice and the creative videos and the fact that i love his sad songs just as much as i love the ones that make me feel pumped up. I love Hyde's attitude in all his videos, he's so laid back and cool and yet he has such a powerful voice. I love the usual funny and crazy Miyavi just as much as i love him when he sings sad songs like Itoshii Hito. All three of them are awesome artists, great voices, have creative videos ...

Oh i could talk about them all day long!! Smile))
