@TGM I know, I'm wondering how far will I go (!) But I don't think I'll have a problem with it, it's a series I'll gladly watch.
@Saito Hajime (I like replying you!) Gintama is an anime/manga series (duh me if that was unecessary from my part). I'm really just starting (13 episode or so), so I can't really tell you about the arcs though there are already glimpses where you can get vague notion, but, summing it up for you, gintama attempts to see how far it can parody any series. The whole series is full of comedic references (not just other anime/manga), and it has a very slapstick or as Gintoki says "Perverse sense of humor". However, as you may be wondering with all this, despite it all don't worry, it is an independent piece.
