Re: English or subtitles
I also vote for original anime with subtitles. Sometimes the english dubs are just not well done and it really bothers me. Also japanese voice actors are the most experienced, I would say.
But I don't mind english at all, if the dubbing is well done I gladly watch it.

Re: English or subtitles
Definetly subs. I actually can not watch a dubbed anime. It feels weird. I said this in some other post, but i'll say it again. I've been trying to see Yu Yu Hakusho for quite a while now, but i can only find the dubbed version so... i didn't watch it. That's just an example.

Re: English or subtitles
He he! Fair enough. Good reason. I just can't do that. I can't watch a dubbed anime. It's just another of my "things" i have about animes.

Re: English or subtitles
I don't mind watching either, but if I have the option I will go with English dubbed. I don't think anyone should only watch just English dubbed anime though because that seriously limits the amount of anime they can enjoy.
English voice actors can have just as much experience as Japanese voice actors, what you said completely depends on the actor themselves. Also unless you speak Japanese you can't completely judge how well a Japanese voice actor is acting.

Re: English or subtitles
Yes, it's true, but Japanese are more propensed, anime is made in there, but ofc that doesn't mean there aren't excellent dubbers.English voice actors can have just as much experience as Japanese voice actors, what you said completely depends on the actor themselves. Exactly, and unfortunately, that works as an advantage.
Not only the limiting, but also one should be open and experience the original after all.I don't think anyone should only watch just English dubbed anime though because that seriously limits the amount of anime they can enjoy.
P.S: Check the other thread about it (wink)

Re: English or subtitles
I am definitely a fan for the subs. I don't know. Although watching the dubbed versions are easier to understand, something about them to me just seems... off. To me, it feels a little less like it was suppose to be, plus translation between spoken word and actual words can be quite different. But don't get me wrong, I'll totally watch dubbed if I have to!

Re: English or subtitles
*sigh* I guess i'm the only stubborn idiot who's willing to give up watching an anime if it's not subbed. Good thing i was able to find 99% of them in the subbed version.

AnimeAmerica has videos on their youtube channel that say what are worst and best English Dubs, I found it pretty interesting.

Re: English or subtitles
I did a blog about this a little while back...
The Dub Question
Studio Ghibli dubs are far and away the best I think. I tend to watch those dubbed rather than subbed, because Pixar do the dubbing, so I know the VAs are high quality.
